“If watching a movie, can you listen to the source in Zone 2 in another room with wired speakers through HDMI or do you need to connect rca cable to hear in zone 2?”

Hello A1. With the AVR-X1800H, you will need to either select All Zone Stereo or in your movie source's menu, switch the digital audio output to PCM to achieve what you are requesting. Also, Zone 2 speakers would require one of the following three options: 1. A wireless feed to an optional Home 150, 250, 350 or SB550 speaker. 2. A speaker wire feed from the AVR's assigned speaker ports to a passive pair of optional Zone 2 speakers. 3. A feed from the AVR's Zone 2 pre-out to an optional external power amplifier wired to the optional Zone 2 passive speakers. The AVR-X3800H is the first model in our current AVR line-up to offer a Zone 2 HDMI pre-out. Although finding speaker which will accept an HDMI feed can be tricky.
