- Answer You can run 7.2.2 if you want 4 height speakers.you have to run a two channel pre amp

QuestionLooking to go 7.2.2, I'd like to use this receiver's preamps to feed an outboard 3 channel amplifier to run the front left, center and right speakers. Then use the Denon's own amplifiers to run the surround speakers. Will it let me configure it this way?

- Answer Great question. Yes it will. Use the pre out section connecting the pre out center, front right, and front left to the amplifier. Connect the surround sound speakers directly to the receiver. Then configure the settings in the set up menu.

QuestionI have a 7.2 system with a Tivo, Bluray player and Roku (3 hdmi ). I also have a TV and an overhead projector). Can I assume I can play any of the 3 hdmi inputs (bluray, Tivo, Roku) to any of the 2 hdmi outs (TV or projector)?

- Answer The X3700H has 2 Main Zone HDMI Outs and 1 Zone 2 HDMI Out. The Main Zone HDMI Outs are mirrored and cannot be used independently with different sources. You can use HDMI Out 1 (Main Zone) for 1 source and Zone 2 HDMI Out for a different source.

QuestionI have a Bose acoustmas system which a 5 channel setup 2 front 2 back and 1 center channel speaker can I utilize this amp and does it support Air play Thanks TMurray

- Answer You can connect your Bose speakers easily to the Denon. If you have a subwoofer it can also be accommodated. Without one, the amp seems like overkill. The Denon does support Airplay (audio only, I think) , but requires Apple devices and Wifi . The receiver manual could be a little clearer about setting this up. However, the Denon customer help site has a simpler explanation. I have not tried Airplay but use an Apple TV box ($180) connected to the media option through one of the HDMI ports. This gives me some streaming video too.

- Answer Yes, the AVR has 2 Subwoofer pre-outs to connect both powered subs.

- Answer Yes, as long as the speakers will connect directly to the AVR's amp channels via speaker wire and the sub is powered and will connect via an RCA connection to the AVR's Subwoofer pre-out.

- Answer Denon will nativley support Spotify, but for all other music streaming services you have to use Denon's HEOS app.

- Answer They should. They might not crank up real loud. Factors come into play with the efficiency of the speakers. If those watts are continuous and not peak power from the amp. I feel you should be fine.

- Answer AVRs aren't really designed anymore to work with an Acoustimass system as it immensely limits the AVR. You would need to use the AVR's pre-outs marked FRONT on the rear panel to connect to the Acoustimass sub module.

- Answer The AVR will support any passive speakers as long as they're 4, 6, or 8 ohm rated. The AVR does not support a passive sub connection directly so the sub will need to be powered or you can use an external sub amp connected to the AVR's Subwoofer pre-out.

QuestionI’m having a hard time with hooking up Apple TV to this x3700h , The cable box works fine but when I hook up Apple TV to the receiver l loose all sound out of TV. To the point of having to unplug the receiver so TV can have it’s own speakers put out sound

- Answer I assume that the apple tv device is connected via hdmi to one of the Denon's inputs (I use media player for my apple tv device). You need to make sure that the settings for the input that you're connected to specifies that audio is coming in to the HDMI connection. If it is, you need to go into the settings for the Apple device and check your HDMI/audio settings.

QuestionThe description for this receiver says that it is "Built for Gaming." How is the surround sound when watching movies? I have a lower end Denon that has excellent surround sound. I don't want to lose that.

- Answer I have mine set up in 5.1.4 and the Dolby Atmos surround is incredible. The receiver Auto detects any type of input it's receiving and processes it accordingly

- Answer There are 7 inputs and 3 outputs. HDMI 2.1 hasn’t been officially released but the specs are starting to show up in this line of receivers. One input and one output are capable of handling 8K at 60hz or 4K at 120hz. The others max out at 4K at 60hz and all ports handle HDR codecs. So you should be pretty future proof with this receiver since 4K content hasn’t fully permeated the market yet.
