• No adapter required. It can be connected two ways: Regular VGA-VGA cable depending on the age of the monitor, or HDMI to DVI cable. This gives a cleaner picture. I used both options and they both work.

• Yes, standard monitor plugs in directly. It also has a hdmi port for an hdmi monitor.
