• I believe you can you would need to hold it like a motorcycle handlebar instead of a flashlight. With the handle parallel to your body.

• Pointing it straight down would view the tripod . But should work at an angel just fine for recording video or photos . I’m not sure what you mean by “scan”. It will record straight down if hand held or mounted at 90 degrees. Hope this helps
