“Hi - I have the iPhone 7 plus and I would like to use this, However, I have read that you need the specific DJI app which takes way too much time dl'ing pictures and videos .Is there anyway you can still use this device but not the app? Thank you!”

yes you can still use the DJi Osmo Mobile without the app, you would just lose the ability to use the hardware zoom and record buttons

The DJi app as well as other professional recording apps will allow full access to the controls of the gimbal as well as customized settings for joystick. The gimbal itself will work on any device, you can even put a sponge on this thing and it works because it's a gimbal, that's what they do.
