“I used a hdmi cable to hook up my cable to the TV and used the 3 color wire to conect my DVD player everything seems to work fine but sometimes I get a error message can not connect to my wifi other times it loads up fine also says I have a poor signal”

what kind of cable you use to hook up your DVD player to your TV doesn't effect the wifi signal enough to cause an error. I would look into modem/router/cable company

It's important to note that a large number of home devices contain very small and low powered 'wifi receivers', per say.
