I had a similar problem. I bought a Dynex 3 port HDMI switch and a HDMI cable. I hooked the cable to the Dynex and the TV and blue ray disc player to ports on the Dynex. There is a switch on the Dynex to select which to watch. It was easy to install and works fine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Tigers, I would say if you’re trying to keep the DVD player in the closet your options come down to one or two things either you get a HDMI switcher placed inside of there, Or run a second HDMI cable which I think is probably what you do not want to do based on your description, or you can get and audio receiver that will do the switching for you. The audio receiver but only be needed if you are getting speakers and doing surroundsound.
