I looked this up as this lag is more noticable on fast paced video games. here is the deal. It actually has to do with the time it takes the tv to process the video signal. ways to reduce lag are 1) make sure you set both the tv and tv cable box to the proper resolution settings. if your getting the two resolutions correct to be native then the time it takes less time to process therefore less lag. nintendo wii is 480p and can cause issues with lag. I suggest a quick google search on gaming hdtv lag (visual lag NOT internet lag) there are many tips to help sort this. just as an aside. I set mine up after a google search and reading to understand the issue and now my tv is great with no lag.
