I'm pretty sure it's a gloss screen unit, but I have mine sitting next to our 55X80 living room window and we have no glare or briteness problems with it.

Plasma TVs have glare issues; this is an LCD, which has minimal glare, if at all. LCD is what you want if you have a bright room.
