This may work and it may not, depending on where the contacts are bon each side of your cable. This cable has an extra ring, designed to carry video signal. it may throw off the signal path, hence the nomenclature of TRRS instead of TRS. Basically, those letters mean Tip Ring Ring Sleeve (4 contacts) insted of TRS (Tip Ring Sleeve).The sleeve is the ground, so the TRS will provide both left and right channels. Below, ill suggest a couple of alternative consideratios that are TRS.
