“vga to hdmi transfer I have an HP EliteBook 8540p. How can I hook it up to a TV with an HDMI connection for power point presentations and such? The Laptop does not have HDMI, only USB and VGA connections. The TV has HDMI and USB ports.”

Get a VGA to HDMI adapter. You can use a regular VGA cable to plug into the laptop. Then the other end of the VGA cable goes into the hdmi adapter and into the TV. Ensure your TV is on the correct HDMI input and your extending (or mirroring whichever you prefer) your display on the PC. I use an adapter like this everyday and it works well.

This cable is strictly for transferring data between computers. USB is not capable of transferring a display from one device to another, you will need to get a VGA to HDMI adapter.
