“Will it work for applications that use a dongle for licensing I have a computer aided drafting application that uses a dongle(that plugs into the parrallel port) for licensing. In using this converter how do I know the application will recognize the dongle? Is there some type of driver that gets loaded?”

The dongle is software controlled , either you can check with the software manufacturer or try it and see. . it shouldn't hurt the dongle but debending on the software as to whether it will recognize the dongle on this cable.
