The Dyson's have a trigger on the wand near where it is held that when pulled disengages the beater bar.

Please try again later.No. I use the wand with the non-rotating bristle brush attached to the end for my hardwood floors and small rugs and the rotating brush head for carpeted areas. Using the rotating brush head on hardwood floors should be OK since the bristles are nylon and not firm to the touch.

While the brushbar cannot be turned off, it does feature a brushbar with carbon fiber filaments with an anti-static property to help pick up the stubborn dust from bare floors.
