• The paperwork says once a year. However I bought two extra filters. Also the unit will tell you when to clean or replace

• From what I understand if you run it for 12 hour a day on average you need to replace the filter about once a year.

• Hello George, this is Kelly with Dyson. The life on the filter for the HP01 Pure Hot + Cool is about 4382 hours. If you were to use your machine 12 hours every single day, the filter would last you about a year. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
