• Yes it can manually be used without the remote the remote is for comfort

• Hi there, this is Kelly with Dyson. You can use the TP01 Pure Cool either with the power button on the front of the unit, or with the included remote control. The remote is magnetic and can be stored on the curved upper loop of the machine. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
