Yes, the area I put mine in gets quite dusty, but it does a very good job of cleaning the air. It heats / cools the room quickly and quietly too. I am going to buy another for a different part of the house. Just make sure to keep it clean.

The sensor uses a very small heating element to create an airflow, pulling dust inside the body of the sensor. Infra-red light is then shone on to the airflow and the reflected light from dust particles is measured. An average of the last 45 seconds of data is analyzed - if the average is above a set threshold then the fan will start to clean the room. When the 45 second buffer shows the sensor to be below the threshold, the fan will continue to run for two minutes to ensure clean state has been reached and to avoid ‘bouncing’ the fan motor on and off.
