Hi there, this is Krystal with Dyson. Thank you for reaching out regarding your V6. It is recommended to empty the canister before debris goes over the MAX line. In the event, that debris does go over the MAX line and you notice a build up along the top, the canister can be completely separated by using the bin release catch with the bin lid open. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I found it easier to take the canister off altogether and the dirt falls right out with ease. To get it off you press the red button and then twist slightly and it will separate from the handheld portion of the vacuum.
