Will the Dyson V8 Absolute possibly scratch my new darker hardwood floors, if I use the appropriate option for hard floors rather than for carpeting? null

YES! it will scratch your dark hardwood floor. The rotating head doesn't scratch it, but the bottom of the stick somehow does. I have to be very careful and sort of hold it up else I'm bound to get a light scratch. Good luck

Yes it will scratch dark hardwood! I have the v7 and it’s not the head that scratches but the wheels on the back make scratches every time you pivot the head. Very disappointing!

I always use the soft roller for hardwood floors. I've bought the V8 a year ago and at the beginning I found the roller quite good and there was no scratching. 

I can surely say that now that's not the case. The soft roller has some soft material on each side (left/right) that in time gets thinner until part of the plastic touches and scratches the floor

This vacuum has great suction but YES IT SCRATCHES THE FLOORS! I am SO disappointed. We have black stained wood floors and there are scratches everywhere. Finally realized it's the plastic on the bottom of the head. The soft parts wear down, and the silver paint from the hard plastic comes off as it scratches the floor. Bad design!

YES YES YES. EVERY SINGLE TIME I VACUUM it leaves scuff marks from the wheels . Highly disappointed and will go back to the shark that I used for years before being suckered into thinking this vacuum was something special.

it destroyed my wood floors- after 3 houses and 25 years of no problems with cheap vacuums, , my husband got me an expensive stain - 3 months later floors were ruined with fine scratches everywhere

Yes it will scratch your floors I’m so disappointed because this is not a cheap vacuum it needs to be better!

My V7 does. The two plastic “wheels” on the pivot joint on the floor attachment scratched my dark hardwood floors. Had to slightly lift it to prevent it from happening.

To avoid any possicle scratches, you can buy soft roller head, which is sold separately at Dyson.
They have 2 soft roller head options for sale.

this vacuum comes with a hard floor attachment with a super soft luxe like brush. we have dark hard wood floors and we've had no issues with scratching.

No it won't! The floor attachment is well designed. We have dark hardwood floors and use it on them all the time. It actually replaced sweeping for me!
