“I'm worn out with subscriptions and don't want a subscription. I want sensors that will sound off when the door is open, and can be enabled/disabled via app. Is that possible with these without a subscription?”

You can control and monitor these sensors through the ecobee app, including enabling or disabling them as needed. However, for more advanced features—like receiving notifications when doors are opened or monitoring activity when you're not home—you would need a subscription to the ecobee Smart Security plan. Without the subscription, you'll still benefit from temperature control and occupancy detection, but security-related features such as motion alerts and activity notifications are part of the paid plan.
