• They are separate. router/modem is for getting service and this makes the whole wifi system. Some modem comes with wifi but limited on speed or range.

• The Max 7 is a wireless router, but it does need internet access via an ethernet cable. If the ISP isn't providing you with an ethernet port for internet you will need a modem/ONT, which modem depends on the ISP.
