Pro system uses three identical routers to form the mesh. Stronger than a single router and boosters. I have the Pro system with Netgear modem and it solved my home network issues.
I would recommend:
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you mean the difference between the eero Pro and the eero Beacon, the Pro is a full router and one is necessary to connect to your modem and becomes the gateway to the rest of the network. It has two Ethernet ports. The eero Beacon has no Ethernet ports and is a WiFi repeater only. Further, the Pro costs about twice what the Beacon does. The other specific differences can be seen at the eero.com website.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The beacons plug directly into an outlet and function as a relay. The square Eero has a plug-in that allows it to away from the outlet. It also has two LAN ports, allowing it to work as a wireless and wired system simutaneously.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Vanessa, I tried one Eero base and 2 beacons first in my very long combination apartment, and it was somewhat weak and inconsistent in the last two rooms. Then I spent more money and upgraded to Eero Pro Second Generation which is three bases (no beacons) and it is much stronger. It is also more expensive but well worth it, and I love it. Hope this helps. Monika
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Eero bases have two ports for hard-wired devices or to connect the two together to ensure strength at a greater distance. I went with the 2 Eero system because I hard wire most devices. I also had to plug the original base in upstairs where my internet comes in, but I also have an office at the other end of the house in the basement (ranch style home). I used the patch cord that I previously used to connect it to my old router and used it to connect the 2 Eeros, the other port I have attached to switches (for more port). If you don’t hardwire beacons are proably fine. Either way, I believe you’ll notice better WiFi signal in your home and will like the product.
