Yes that is exactly what I got it for. I used OBS as a software, macbook air, canon 90d, and this item. Worked flawlessly!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't know about your particular DSLR, but it works like a charm on my old camcorder (Sony cx900). It wasn't listed as a compatible device, and I couldn't find any info online so I just bought it. If your DSLR has a mini HDMI to USB plug it would be worth a shot.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We had no trouble on two high-end DSLRs. (I don't remember which ones, sorry.) Check the size of the HDMI cable connectors. The one at the Elgato end needs to be the regular full size, while the one at the camera end is likely something smaller; the mini-HDMI size seemed to be a common one for cameras/webcams. (The latter size isn't all that commonly-used for HDMI cables in general, but Best Buy and others do carry such beasts.) All that is for basic functionality. How well a DSLR camera works as a webcam can vary widely.
