Q: QuestionI have three way switches that controls lights over and island. What I need to do is to add a third switch to this configuration and it will not have a traveler wire. How do I do this?
Asked by Skip.
- A:Answer Hello Skip, thank you for your question. For 3-way and 4-way configurations with our Z-Wave switches, you must use the designated Z-Wave add-on switches. These add-on switches require a traveler wire and you cannot proceed without one. It appears that you will need an electrician to install traveler wires in the locations that do not have one. The traveler wire and neutral wire must be present at all locations in order for this to work. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to respond or give us a call between the hours of 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM Central Standard Time, Monday thru Friday at 1-800-654-8483, and press option 4. Q: QuestionCan I put this switch in place of my 15 amp boiler switch . So when there is a storm and I am not home . I can switch my boiler off via my iPhone or an app?
Asked by John.
- A:Answer Hello John, thank you for your question. Yes, 15A is the max rating this can handle, so that should not be an issue. In order to control from an app on your phone, you will need a compatible Z-Wave hub. There are several options you can choose from, but this is required for controlling the device from remote locations.
