• Most seem to have a limit of 4GB. You either have to compress the file or use physical hard drive

• The restrictions you're thinking of are based on how the card or hard drive is formatted. If it is formatted in the NTFS format then it can transfer/hold a file that is larger than 4GB. If your SD card or hard drive is formatted as FAT32 or exFAT then it will only be able to receive a file that is smaller than 4GB.
