• Yes I can control it from the app that I installed on my laptop. There is an app that you have to download to your phone if you want to print from your phone.

• You can control the basic functions with the computer just as it's set up, but to get all of the functions of the printer, you'll need to install the free HP Smart App, which you can load on your phone or your computer.
