“Will I have to pay 200.00+ every time the ink waste pad gets full and needs to be replaced? Epson service centers charge 175 an hour to do work on these. Amazon has replacement pads but no way to reset waste ink counter. Now I have to by another printer.”

I just bought mine, i don't have the answer to that. Since I have a geek squad protection plan, I guess I will using them when the time comes.
