Hello Steve. The XP-5200 does not require an app, internet connection, or subscription service for use. The printer can be used via a USB connection on a computer and the only software you need to install is the printer driver available on our official Epson Support page. Please note the printer can also be used wirelessly via Wi-Fi on a smartphone, tablet, or computer. Regards, Kevin - The Epson Team.
