“This isn't 4K resolution, is it? As far as I can tell, the LCD chips have 1080 vertical resolution. It dithers the image (vertically but not horiz.) to claim 2160 vertical lines, but actually the pixels overlap/blur and don't get full horizontal resol.”

Hello BigDub. The Home Cinema 3800 uses 4K PRO-UHD Projection Technology. Depending on your input device, the projector can support a maximum 4K resolution of 4096 x 2160. Regards, Kevin - The Epson Team.
