“What screen is recommended for this projector? I have heard that the screen is just as important as the projector itself, but I don't know if I am willing to drop another $1500 on the screen as per a Best Buy projector rep.”

Silver Ticket Screens are the best value in projector screens. They don’t cost too much and they’re renowned for their excellent quality and value. They’re sold on amazon and/or through their own website.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The new big thing now is the black or grey screens. There is 4k options out there also but I don't believe it is necessary since this is not a true 4k projector. I just use a plain old pull down white screen and this projector looks great on it.
