• Yes. I have done this. Blank sides are skipped. In the Epson Scan 2 software, Advanced Settings tab, Skip Blank Pages. Select from various levels.

• The Epson website says: auto crop, blank page and background removal with Epson® Image Processing Technology. I personally have not tried it.
