No and no. When you use the wireless setup utility it prompts you to enter your server password. Easy peasy. Every time you ask it to print, you select either black and white or color.

Please try again later.Relative to your second question, I am on the phone right now with Epson and am being told that even though I just replaced my black cartridge, the fact that 2 of the color cartridges are reading empty is not allowing me to print even though I selected to print in black and grayscale. And for those about to ask why 2 color cartridges are empty, I'll refer you to my review where we have now spent some $200 on ink since purchasing this machine in March and I am pretty sure we have not printed 1000 pages, yet. I could give you an exact number but this machine does not keep a tally on total pages. In this case, in a period of 2 1/2 months, we have burned through the yellow cartridge.
