The printer should connect to the laptop, if there is any troubles with the computer not allowing it to connect, then you may try to plug a usb cable into it for a hard wired connecting from the computer to the printer and it should work just fine at that point.

You have the choice of either a direct USB connection (highly recommended) or a wireless connection with bluetooth (this should work fine as long as your computer is not too far from your router.).
