Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it does record both audio and video (clips) without a subscription. I've only had the unit for about a month or so. You can adjust the length of the video clips (up to 60 seconds, but it keeps starting new clips so there is something of a continuity but it's a one-minute clip after another), the intensity of the motion detection, and the intensity of the level of audio it records. (It can record the sound of me setting something like a glass down on the counter.) The clips are categorized by date, so you can delete all the clips from one day or you can pick and choose which clips to delete, if you want to delete any at all. What I haven't figured out is how to transfer the clips from my phone or the home base to a more permanent storage so that copies could be transferred to agencies such as law enforcement without actually letting them keep my phone. Also, something else to be aware of is this: For some reason, there were events that I can verify did occur, but none of the cameras picked up any recordings. Not sure why. There is an option for customizing when the cameras are on, but it had not been used. I emailed Eufy customer service, but they emailed me back the response to someone else's question. One more thing, I mentioned the opportunity to customize when the cameras are on, etc. The unit has different modes. One of the modes sets off an alarm, which has a volume you can adjust, any time motion is detected. Another mode doesn't have an alarm but still records everything. Of course, it has a disarmed mode which is the same as turning the unit off. In any mode other than disarmed, you have the option of keeping some cameras on and turning others off. I bought two additional cameras to go with the unit so that the entire space was monitored. They attached to the home base with no problem. Glad I have them. Still not sure I fully trust them when they say no alerts for the day other than my leaving or returning. Haven't rated them yet for this reason.
