Technically yes it could be run with a power cord. That being said, it would not be advised, for one thing the cord that it comes with is only about 6” long. The other problem would be that it is designed to be mounted to a junction box in order for the electrical connections to be weather proof so there is no knock out to feed a cord out of the light.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.When I installed, part of the set up process is that there is a 3 prong connector you can attach to the unit to program before you install. Upon programinng, I de-attached that cord and installed outside where I had a security light only for the power supply. I therefore assume you could simply attached and use the attached 3 prong cord for power. My concern, however, would be that you need to make sure that the connection using the 3 prong cord is made waterproof/properly insulated. I am not an electrician so I make no gauranty on that, but that is my thought. FYI so far my unit works great.
