“Can this be mounted to the soffit of a house? I will have two , one mounted on 2nd story outdoor and one on other side of house one story. Both would have to be mounted on soffit. Can I do this without compromising effectiveness?”

You have to attach it to an electrical utility box that is mounted to your house. If you have that, then you are good, if not you will probably have to get creative.
