Yes, you can set the camera to record when the light comes on. I have my camera set to record when motion is detected in the areas I picked. No, the camera does not turn to follow movement. The camera does have a great wide angle 140 degrees. I can see 2 houses in both directions. In the app you can customize the setting as to when the light comes on, when to start recording and choosing customer motion detection zones.
