If it's wireless why does it need to be plugged in? null

For this device to function properly you need to connect the device to a reliable power source and link this up to your 2.4Ghz WiFi network via the EZVIZ mobile app. With the EZVIZ mobile app, you can view the live videos from your device at all times as long as the device is online, if you wish to view the playback from your device, you need to insert an SD card or subscribe to the EZVIZ cloud play service

It is not wireless powered--in other words uses batteries, it is non-POE. connects to your internet using wi fi.

The video is wireless, the power supply is 12volt from a wall wort supplied or you can use a 12 volt battery. Using a 12volt battery would make it totally wireless.....except for the wires to the battery. Also observe the polarity of your 12 volt battery hookup...

because you still need to power up the camera... the wireless part is wifi enabled meaning you don't need a hard wired network connection but it is an option

It has to obtain power from some source. Some camera's have rechargeable batteries, some solar power with battery. Most will get power from AC adapter or "power over ethernet" (called POE)
