I live in an RV and have slow internet. the Fire TV Recast records broadcast TV at up to HD quality (since it doesn't depend on my slow internet) and looks great playing back.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.short answer is 1.5 GBs a second. the ReCast uses SD resolution, 720 x 1280, it is not HD whose resolution is 1080 x 1920. HD contains 4x the info of SD and 4K 4x that of HD, if 5 GBs per second is recommended for HD streaming you might get by w 25% of that = 1.25 GBs per second. That is if you and your spouse aren't streaming 2 different programs while Jr is online gaming.
