• If you have youngsters that behave and do what they are told and shown, and you don't have it in the middle of their play area, I would think it would be ok. Your decision, but it would all depend on your placement and showing them not to go near it, explain why and the age of the children.

• Yes, provided you have it on a flat surface. The unit stays cool to the touch, even after long hours of use. I really like mine! It's cute, lightweight, and provides a great ambient temperature
