• No it does not. It recognizes motion. Say for example if you want it to recognizing steps (motion) you need to have it moving. You could technically tuck it into your sock and then it will register. I've found fitbit to be not all that accurate. You'd be better off just investing your money into exorcise equipment.

• It counts all steps. It is not purely a GPS tracker.
