• Yes. The blaze has a full color screen and all the tracking info that you should need. Synching to the app will provide logs/charts over time and metrics like sleep tracking. You also will want to use the app to make cosmetic changes to the display such as watch style and for identifying wrist placement (dominant/non-dominant)

• Ducky, I think he'd be ok. You can track/read your stats online at the fit bit site also. So that might be an option for him.

• It will function without a smart phone for day to day use and monitoring, but, to take advantage of the full potential of this device, I would recommend use with a smart phone.
