Yes it will vibrate. Then you tap it or tilt your wrist to see the message or number. Note you can only see the first few words of the message and if multiple texts come in you can not see any text body.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.When a text comes in it vibrates once and when you look at the screen it will display the name and/or message depending on how you set it up. when you are getting a call it will continuously vibrate, show a phone and the name of the caller.

FitBit vibrates once or twice when a text is received, and displays the caller ID + the text content (not sure how much text, but got at least 10+ words displayed on screen). Text is displayed from left to right on a single line.
