Accurate step count? I can't recall whether it was the Flex or charge that I'd heard gives a false reading on steps taken just from arm movements?? Trying to decide which to invest in and want sleep details to be accurate.

I have no issue with the charge. Just make sure when setting the charge to put down if you're wearing on your dominant or none dominant hand. This will help make it more accurate.

if you stand still and swing your arm like you are walking then it will count them as steps. Short arm swings or other arm movements do not seem to be counted.

As far as sleep monitoring goes, it pretty much just tells you how many times you wake up at night. I believe if you move around a lot while trying to fall back to sleep, it will count it as being restless.

The flex gives me a false reading when I'm riding my motorcycle from the handlebar vibrations. Haven't ridden yet with my Charge.

Both the flex and charge can record inaccurate step counts based on arm movement. If you're concerned about that, you would be better off with one of the clip on ones that you can clip to your belt loop. Those are considered more accurate. Anything you wear on your wrist can potentially record extra steps you may not have actually taken.

My flex would give false readings for anything that I would bump into, clap or hit my wrist on anything. So far the Charge HR doesn't seem to do that, it seems to record accurately.

Typically, it is the arm movements, but if you think about it, most of the time you are walking anyways. Now you could flap your arms, but that would defeat the purpose. This has really helped me be more aware of my physical activity. It has stayed pretty accurate. One day I was tired and spent the day on the couch and it definitely reflected it at the end of the day. On days I know I am more active, it reflects that too. The sleep has been pretty accurate too. Hope that helps!

I had the flex over a year ago and I thought it was completely inaccurate on steps because of arm movements. I now have the charge and it is much better.

Absolutely none of the wrist band will be exact, but fit bit is one of the best, you will always have a bias

Personally I really like the misfit shine. Accurate, reports other activities other than walking and running, and will even track swimming
