• No I set my sister-in-laws up on her computer her phone wouldn’t load the app.

• It doesn't "require" a smartphone, but it is beneficial. All it really requires is a Bluetooth connection to a computer system that has the Fitbit App installed so that the tracking information can be uploaded to the Fitbit cloud for easier visual display.

• I used my Windows 10 computer. I always call the fitbit toll free number and let them help me though.
