Unless you have it set on any of the features, it just works like a watch except that it silently tracks you calories burned, steps taken, floors climbed and your heartrate. It does not make any noise at all. It does vibrate if you get 10,000 steps or you get a text message. I am sure you can turn the text message alert off.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Donna, When you say 'pinging', I am assuming you mean pinging with your phone. If you are using an iPhone, they is a sync option in the app (I am assuming the Android app would have it too). It is by default set to 'All-Day Sync', you can turn it off and sycn it manlually when you want. There isn't an option on the Fitbit Charge to turn off bluetooth. Hope this helps.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. It communicates to your phone via Bluetooth. You "can" just turn off the Bluetooth (on the watch).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Because this watch uses only Bluetooth and GPS for running there isn't really a need for airplane mode. i haven't found any such mode.
