• all the historical data is stored on the fitbit website server. the tracker is really only needed to connect you to that data. if you switch trackers you will be covered as i went from a fitbit flex to the fitbit charge hr and didnt lose a thing

• Yes it can . The data follows your account. Once you pair the new tracker to your existing account everything is there.
