It is a thermoelectric cooler, meaning it runs quiet on little power and only gets about 20 deg colder than room temperature. Say it's in your 72 deg basement, cans of beverage would get to about 52 deg. Nice and cool. But not as cold as a 34 deg traditional refrigerator unit.
