• It can either be set up to shut off (energy star mode), or just stay on constantly (cool mode)

• The unit turns off when thermostat reaches desired temperature. It will restart as needed, but operates quietly under all cicumstances.

• It depends on what you set it at. It can run continuously or you can set it to shut off and come back on
