• The interior is not just a square shape. The back, door, left side, and top ALL have curved insets which make cleaning easier and provides hand grip room when placing or removing items within the microwave. However, the RIGHT SIDE of the oven (with the light and Magnetron) IS a flat surface. This renders the effective cooking dimensions (allowing for food/dish to rotate on carrousel) to 11 inches high and 16 inches for both width and depth (I.E. A Rectangle). I am sure they include the indentations in their space calculation of 2.2 cubic feet, but those dimensions are the actual useful size.
