Why does the ice start to melt before it drops? null

The unit extrudes a ribbon of ice which is subsequently cut into nuggets by a rotating cutter mechanism. At that point the ice nuggets start to slide down the chute into the ice storage area using gravity. If the ambient temperature is warm, the ice may melt slightly as it moves down the chute into the ice storage area.
